21st John J. Eikenburg Law Week
Fun Run Raises $50,000 for The Center

The HBA’s 21st John J. Eikenburg Law Week Fun Run raised $50,000 for The Center Serving Persons with Mental Retardation and drew a crowd of over 1,000 runners, walkers and supporters. This year’s event brings the 21-year total donations to The Center to over $673,000. The Center makes independent lives possible for developmentally challenged people in the Houston community.
Held March 25th at Sam Houston Park, the event featured an 8K run, a competitive one-mile childrens’ run and a one-mile family walk. Forty-nine law firm and corporate teams competed.
The event was a team effort that involved many months of planning and coordination. Race directors were Tonja De Sloover of Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P. and Mark W. Wege of Bracewell & Giuliani LLP. The Fun Run Committee included Lori Aylett, Hon. Jane Bland, Timothy Bowne, S. Scott Boyd, Hon. Jeff Brown, Meredith Canada, Eraka Childs, Joshua Davis, John J. Eikenburg, Jr., Don Fizer.
