Judicial Investitures
The Hon. Reece Rondon was sworn in as judge of the 334th District Court on December 11, 2003,
by the Hon. Priscilla Owen of the Supreme Court
of Texas. Kristen N. Henderson held the Bible.
The Hon. Adele Hedges was sworn in as chief
justice of the Fourteenth Court of Appeals on December 17, 2003, by the Hon. Thomas R. Phillips, chief justice of the Supreme Court of Texas. Justice Hedges was joined by her mother, Rhea Oglesbee, her son, Clinton, and her husband, Daniel K. Hedges of Porter & Hedges L.L.P.
The Hon. William R. Burke, Jr. was sworn in as judge of the189th District Court on December
19, 2003, by the Hon. Lynn N. Hughes of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, as Beverly Burke held the Bible.
The Hon. Marc C. Carter was sworn in as judge of the 228th District Court on January 19, 2004, by Texas Governor Rick Perry. Joining Judge Carter were his wife, Roswitha Carter, and daughters, Asasia and Amber.
The Hon. Jane Bland was sworn in as a justice on the First Court of Appeals on February 20, 2004, by the Hon. Scott Brister of the Supreme Court of Texas. Joining her were her husband, Doug Bland of Vinson & Elkins L.L.P., and her children, Daniel and Sarah Bland.
Judicial Portraits
A portrait of the late Hon. George Miller, recognizing his service on the 113th District Court, was unveiled by the Miller family in a special ceremony on December 5, 2003, in Judge Miller’s former courtroom.
A portrait of the late Hon. Frank O. White, honoring his service on the 295th District Court, was unveiled by the White family on December 19, 2003, in Judge White’s former courtroom.
