Kroger to Lead Houston Bar Foundation in 2005
Awards recognize pro bono service, volunteerism, legal writing

Bill Kroger, a partner in the law firm of Baker Botts L.L.P., succeeded Lynn Kamin of Short Jenkins Kamin LLP as chair of the Houston Bar Foundation on February 2nd at the Foundation’s Annual Meeting and Luncheon at The Houston Club. The keynote speaker was the Hon. Thomas R. Phillips, former chief justice of the Supreme Court of Texas. Texas Supreme Court Justice Harriet O’Neill made a special presentation on pro bono legal services.
Other new officers of the Foundation are Lisa H. Pennington of Baker & Hostetler L.L.P., vice chair, and Neil H. Wilcox of J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., treasurer. Kamin will serve on the board as immediate past chair.
New directors for 2005-2007 are Martin D. Beirne of Beirne, Maynard & Parsons L.L.P.; Gwen E. Richard of the Law Office of Gwen E. Richard; and Karl S. Stern of Vinson & Elkins L.L.P. Completing terms as directors for 2004-2006 are Angela Birch Cox of The Coca-Cola Company; Catherine A. Lamboley of Shell Oil Company; and Tracie J. Renfroe of Bracewell & Patterson, L.L.P.
The Foundation also recognized law firms and individuals for outstanding pro bono services, volunteerism and legal writing.
